Oncology Diagnostic Procedures is a comprehensive course designed to develop healthcare professionals’ understanding of the diagnostic processes used to detect, characterize, stage, and monitor cancer.
The course explores the complete diagnostic pathway—from clinical presentation and initial assessment through laboratory investigations, imaging, tissue diagnosis, molecular and biomarker testing, staging, treatment-response assessment, and surveillance. Learners will develop the ability to understand why specific investigations are requested, interpret key findings within their clinical context, recognize limitations of diagnostic tests, and understand how diagnostic results contribute to multidisciplinary cancer-care decisions.
Particular emphasis is placed on histopathology, cytology, immunohistochemistry, hematologic investigations, tumor biomarkers, molecular diagnostics, genomic testing, liquid biopsy, radiologic imaging, endoscopic procedures, and cancer staging. The course also addresses patient preparation, specimen collection and handling, diagnostic safety, communication of results, documentation, and ethical considerations.
The course provides an important foundation for oncology nurses, physicians, pharmacists, laboratory professionals, radiographers, researchers, and other healthcare professionals involved in cancer diagnosis and clinical care.
