Oncology Nursing & Infusion Skills is a comprehensive, clinically focused course designed to equip nurses and other healthcare professionals with the knowledge, practical competencies, safety principles, and professional skills required to provide high-quality care to patients receiving cancer treatment.
The course covers the complete oncology nursing pathway, from initial patient assessment and treatment preparation to safe medication administration, infusion monitoring, toxicity recognition, emergency response, symptom management, patient education, and treatment follow-up.
Particular emphasis is placed on the safe delivery of systemic anticancer therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, monoclonal antibodies, supportive medications, and selected infusion-based treatments. Learners will develop a strong understanding of treatment verification, vascular access, medication safety, infusion assessment, hazardous-drug precautions, extravasation prevention and management, hypersensitivity reactions, and emergency preparedness.
The course also develops essential oncology nursing competencies in clinical assessment, laboratory and treatment-parameter review, performance-status assessment, toxicity grading, pain and symptom management, infection prevention, nutrition, psychosocial support, patient education, documentation, and multidisciplinary communication.
Through case-based learning and practical clinical scenarios, learners will develop the ability to identify early deterioration and respond appropriately to febrile neutropenia, sepsis, anaphylaxis, infusion reactions, extravasation, tumor lysis syndrome, bleeding, thromboembolic events, and other oncology emergencies.
The course promotes patient-centered and evidence-based oncology nursing practice while emphasizing professional scope of practice, institutional protocols, medication safety, informed consent, confidentiality, and quality improvement.
